I Won a Contest I Didn’t Even Know I Was Entered Into

Sometimes the best wins come when you’re not even keeping score.

SPARK Insights™ Issue #0046

Last week, I was on a live webinar with the other accredited Purpose Factor coaches when something unexpected happened.

The moderator suddenly announced:

“And the winner is… Bob Regnerus.”

The strange part?
I didn’t even know I was entered into a contest.

I’ll tell you the whole story in a minute—but first, a quick life update and some cool subscriber connections to tell you about that show why this is so meaningful…

Life Update

My first golf season as head coach is winding down. The season runs from August 11 through October 1, so by this time next week, our first season will be over.

I’ll share a fuller reflection in a week or two, but here’s what I know right now: time moves fast. In the past, I often caught myself looking ahead to the end of a season instead of enjoying the days as they came. This time, I’ve done a better job of savoring the day-to-day.

Being in the sun and on a golf course nearly every day—coaching or playing—has been a gift. It’s lowered my anxiety and given me a deeper sense of fulfillment than I experienced during my last few basketball seasons. I’m grateful for that shift.

And maybe that shift in mindset explains why the contest moment landed the way it did…

Recent Interviews with Subscribers!

If you have a show or podcast, I’d love to be a guest! Just send me a message and let’s make it happen!!

So honored to have been interviewed by my friend Craig Domann on the Pro Mindset Podcast

In this episode, Craig and I talked about how intentional breathing can enhance performance, reduce stress, and foster a mindset of presence and focus. Whether you're on the golf course or navigating life's challenges, breathwork can be your secret weapon for achieving peak performance.

We also covered:

💡Presence & Intention—Be present, set intentions.
💡Breathing Tool—Calm mind, enhance focus.
💡Process Focus—Prioritize process, manage expectations

💬 “Breathing deeply signals to your brain that you are safe, calming your mind and allowing you to focus on the task at hand." — Bob Regnerus

I also appeared on subscriber Drew Dinkelacker’s show, The Marketing Accelerator Podcast.

This conversation was all about one of my core teachings: Fit Around Life instead of trying to “fit in.” Drew and I explored what it means to build a business and life aligned with your unique design—so you’re not forcing yourself into someone else’s mold.

We also unpacked:

💡 Story Power—Why the stories you tell yourself shape everything.
💡 Alignment vs. Hustle—The hidden cost of trying to “fit in.”
💡 Sustainable Success—How to build a life and business that feels true to you.

💬 “When you stop contorting yourself to fit into someone else’s system, you unlock a flow of energy that makes life and business more sustainable—and far more fulfilling.” — Bob Regnerus

And Now…The Contest I Didn’t Know I Was In

That live webinar was my very first call with the Purpose Factor coaching community. (There are only about 100 of us worldwide—so this is still rare and new.)

What I didn’t know: there was a contest going on. Coaches were being quietly measured on how many assessments they’d facilitated since the last call.

So when the moderator announced my name in front of everyone, I was caught completely off guard.

Here’s the kicker—if I had tried to win, I probably would have overthought it and fallen short. But because I wasn’t attached to the scoreboard—and simply wanted to serve 10 people—20 of you ended up saying yes.

That’s what put me on top.

The prize? A two-hour private consultation with the Purpose Factor founders. I’ll be using that time to design group workshops and other experiences that you’ll hear about soon.

A Story From the Field

The real win isn’t the contest—it’s the stories coming out of these assessments. Here’s one I received just days after a review session (shared with permission, anonymized):

“I just had to share this – your hour review and questions shook something loose!

Today I attended a trade show in Miami, a completely different experience for me. I went in without an agenda, just curious to see what was new, and found myself more outgoing, full of curiosity, and genuinely enjoyed meeting people.

What surprised me the most was how natural it felt—no fear, no hesitation, just honest conversation and easy connections. Even something as simple as asking their opinion and experience with bedskirts opened the door to engaging discussions and new opportunities.

By the time I finished walking the show, I had made real connections in various industries that I normally wouldn’t have even considered—a couple of them immediately forwarded my info.

I walked away excited, grateful, and energized for what’s ahead. Whether the seeds take root, or it was just a great experience—I moved forward.

Grateful,
S.C.”

This is what happens when you’re grounded in your purpose—you show up differently, opportunities open, and the old fears don’t run the show anymore.
