“What Do I Really Want?”
Most people ask for what they want in a way that guarantees they’ll never get it. Today, we’re uncovering the hidden patterns and beliefs that short-circuit your ability to create the life, business, and relationships you truly desire.

Getting What You Want Starts With Clarity
Let me tell you about Karen.
Karen is someone you’d describe as a high achiever. She’s sharp, accomplished, and a true go-getter. But when she came to me for a SPARK Vision Experience, she was stuck— really stuck. Her last two roles had been eliminated, and while she had five new opportunities in front of her, the sheer number of options left her paralyzed.
Here’s the thing about being stuck: It doesn’t always look like failure. Sometimes it looks like busyness. Karen was doing a lot. She was networking, submitting applications, and entertaining interviews. But underneath it all, there was no clarity. She didn’t know what she really wanted.
We sat down together, and I guided her through one of the most powerful exercises I know: crafting a job description that only she could fulfill. I asked her to dig deep. What did her ideal role look like? What were the non-negotiables? What did she want to feel when she woke up every morning and went to work?
To her credit, Karen did not resist this - she EMBRACED it - because here’s the truth: clarity is hard work. It demands that you get specific about what you want, and that’s uncomfortable. As we peeled back the layers, something remarkable happened. The fog lifted. Karen began to see what aligned with who she was at her core, and just as importantly, what didn’t.
Magically, a week later, Karen landed the job that matched her vision. She didn’t settle. She didn’t compromise. And just this week, she shared something incredible with me: the things she had envisioned during her SPARK Session — specific details about the work, the team, even the feeling she wanted to have - were already showing up in her new role.
This isn’t magic. It’s clarity in action.

SPARK-ing Your Creative Process
Karen’s story reflects a powerful truth: “Life doesn’t give you what you want. Life gives you what you believe.”
This is a phrase I’ve adapted for myself and my clients as a way to frame coaching sessions - and, honestly, to frame life. It’s simple, but it holds incredible weight.
Here’s why: You can want something with all your heart - a successful business, a thriving relationship, financial freedom - but if, deep down, you believe it’s impossible, life will reflect that belief back to you.
This isn’t just my idea. This truth has been echoed across time , and it’s worth paying attention to:
Neville Goddard said, “You are limited only by your belief.” Your external world will always mirror your internal state.
Napoleon Hill reminded us, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Success starts in your mind.
Henry Ford put it bluntly: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” Belief creates possibilities or shuts them down.
The Bible (Matthew 9:29) tells us, “According to your faith, let it be done to you.” Faith and belief are the engines of creation.
Tony Robbins teaches, “Your beliefs shape your reality. If you believe something is impossible, it becomes impossible.”
Look at the results in your life right now - your relationships, your work, your health. These aren’t just random outcomes. They’re reflections of what you believe is possible, what you believe you deserve, and what you believe to be true about yourself and the world.
So, if you’re not getting what you want, don’t ask, “What am I doing wrong?” Instead, ask, “What am I believing that’s getting in the way?”
This question - this shift from focusing on wanting to uncovering belief - is the turning point. It’s the first domino to fall in my coaching sessions, and it opens up a path to clarity, growth, and lasting transformation.
The 3 Step Creative Process
Most of us operate on autopilot, driven by beliefs we’ve never questioned. We say we want success, love, fulfillment, or freedom, but deep down, a part of us doesn’t believe it’s possible. Or worse, we believe we don’t deserve it.
The creative process - what others call manifestation - isn’t about wishful thinking or blind optimism. It’s about three things:
Thought – You must clearly picture the end result. A vivid, detailed, compelling vision.
Word – You must declare it. Write it down. Say it out loud. Bring it into existence with your words.
Action – You must take the next right step. You don’t need to see the whole path, but you need to move forward intentionally.
When any of these pieces are missing, the process breaks down. You can think about a goal all day, but without speaking it into the world or taking action, it remains just a dream.
On the flip side, if you keep taking action without clarity, you end up like Karen before her breakthrough - busy, exhausted, and getting nowhere.
SPARK-ing Your Compelling Vision
Here’s what I invite you to do: grab a notebook and spend 30 minutes working through this process.
Start with this statement:
“I want to achieve ____________ next in my __________ by _________.”
Get specific. Instead of “I want more money,” try: “I want to generate $500,000 in revenue by December 30 in my business.” Instead of “I want to be healthier,” try: “I want to lose 20 pounds and complete a half-marathon by October 10”
Then, answer these questions:
What have I done so far to make this happen?
Be honest with yourself. Have you been intentional, or have you been drifting? What’s standing in the way of making this happen?
Are there external obstacles, like time or resources? Or are there internal obstacles - limiting beliefs, fears, or doubts? What habitual and limiting beliefs am I unaware of that could prevent me from accomplishing this?
Sit with this one. Write down the first thoughts that come up, even if they’re uncomfortable. “I’m not good enough.” “Success isn’t for people like me.” “Something always goes wrong.” These beliefs live in the background and sabotage us until we call them out. What resources do I need to make this happen?
Who can help you? What tools, knowledge, or support do you need? What are the various and creative ways to achieve this?
Don’t stop at the obvious answers. Stretch yourself to think outside the box.Of everything I’ve thought of, what am I committing to do - and by when?
This step is critical. Be specific about the action you’ll take and when you’ll take it. Put it on your calendar.
It’s Not Just About What You Want….
Karen’s story reminds me of something profound: clarity doesn’t just help you see your path - it helps you determine what you do not want and filter out everything that doesn’t scream Y-O-U!
When we worked through her vision, Karen realized that three of the five opportunities on her plate were completely misaligned. They looked good on paper, but they weren’t her. By stripping away the noise, we freed her up to focus on the one opportunity that was right.
Now, she’s thriving. Her vision wasn’t just about a job - it was about how she wanted to show up, how she wanted to feel, and the kind of impact she wanted to make. And because she got clear, life started aligning with her belief.
What Do You Truly Want?
Here’s the question I want to leave you with:
What do you truly want?
Not what’s safe. Not what you think you’re supposed to want. Not what someone else told you to pursue.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, let’s talk. Whether you’re crafting a vision for your business, your career, or your life, a SPARK Session can help you uncover the clarity you need and identify the beliefs holding you back.
Because life doesn’t give you what you want. It gives you what you believe.
So, let’s work together to shift those beliefs, create a clear vision, and map out the steps to get there.
Your next chapter starts today. What will you create?
